One with the Water® - The best swim school in los angeles - A Philosophy
Our philosophy at One with the Water® is to be the best swim school in Los Angeles. To achieve that goal, we focus on the belief that learning to swim should be simple, practical and fun. We understand that children are different with varying needs and will progress at their own pace. Allowing children to explore and make mistakes is an integral part of learning, which we respect. That is why our swimming instructors are trained to guide the student into becoming One with the Water®.

Some children may cry for the first day or two as they try to gain control of a new situation. Parents always know what is best for their children. In a life-saving situation, immediate action is required and this can be developed as a conditioned response. We believe in a no-nonsense method of swim instruction that works. We teach swimming as a life-skill. We call it a life-skill because it could potentially save your or your child’s life.

Our swim lessons reflect a positive and individualized approach and work for everyone, from complete beginners to competitive swimmers. Our swim instructors have training in mentoring swimmers with special needs. Swimming will develop inner and physical strength. Swimmers and their families will develop discipline, mutual trust and respect, control, support, pride and the life skill of swimming. These are attributes that can be applied to all areas of life. We expect each swimmer to strive to do his or her best during each lesson. We encourage families to use swimming as a fun, physical, and healthy part of their lifestyle.

Especially during California's budget crisis, many schools lack the financial resources, personnel and facilities to provide athletic programs or physical therapy for children with special needs. One with the Water® aims to fill that need, with specially-trained instructors and a nimble, low-overhead, non-profit model of operation.

Recent Testimonials

Coach Elizabeth was amazing. She was extremely knowledgeable, experienced and broke down the elements of the flip-turn into easily understandable steps. The video was very helpful and her in-pool demonstration and coaching was great. She easily and clearly answered all of our questions. Elizabeth coached us to be on our way to become more efficient swimmers. I highly recommend One with the Water and this flip-turn clinic to everyone. With some practice, no more stopping at the wall!
Mr. Peter Steinberg, Esq. - April 2013

"I'll never forget my first lesson with Coach Kenneth of One with the Water. He asked me to kick with a kick-board: I went backwards! As a 40-year old who desperately wanted to become a better swimmer I was extremely lucky to find Coach Kenneth. Six months later I am swimming 2000+ yards per workout, including freestyle, and I am proficient in all four strokes. I never dreamed that possible. Coach Kenneth is an outstanding teacher and motivator. I feel so lucky to have trained with him."
Mr. Scott G. - March 2013

"I can't thank One with the Water enough. In just 5 sessions, through swim drills and very practical and specific corrections to the inefficiencies in my form, I went from struggling to finish 125 meters to swimming an unbroken 500m in about 6 weeks. This last week I swam a full 750m. My chief worry about the sprint triathlon I have coming up had been just finishing the swim portion, but after all the progress I've made since starting with OWTW, I'm more focused now on how fast I can finish the swim leg, rather than just getting through it. Thanks a ton!"
Mr. Otto Penzato - February 2013

"Hi, our daughter learned a lot with One with the Water today. It made her realize the value of One with the Water's stroke clinic above others."
Mrs. Sarah Zavdi - September 2012

"I wanted to let you know how thrilled we were with the experience Ezzy had swimming with Kenneth. It was really amazing. Kenneth had an incredibly chilled but fun energy that Ezzy totally connected to. He was learning, but having a blast at the same time. I literally would hear him laughing his head off for most of the lesson. More importantly though, 8 lessons later, he was swimming. Kenneth had a perfect balance of pushing Ezzy past his comfort zone, but never scaring or forcing him through something as I have seen other instructors do in the past. I highly recommend Kenneth to all my friends and would use him again in a heartbeat."
Mrs. Sarah Zavdi - June 2012

"Henry really responded to you, and looks forward to his class with you more than anything else right now. After the first class with you, he suddenly looked forward to and enjoyed swimming, as opposed to dreading it. He made huge strides, the biggest he has ever made, working with you."
Mr. Nathan D. - September 2011
