Our Method

We use an established barbell training method maximizing basic movement patterns that work the entire body as one coordinated system, gradually increasing loads in a logically designed program to make your whole body stronger. Learn to use your body as the beautiful system it was created to be, and effectively build muscle in the process.

Coach Kenneth Rippetoe

“I don’t coach people for exercise, I train them for life.”
Since January 2015, Coach Kenneth has been coaching clients in this powerful, practical, full-body barbell training method. Utilizing positive commands, application of the growth mindset, and proper encouragement techniques, Coach Rippetoe will help you achieve your goal of being stronger, leaner, and harder to kill.

The Barbell Training Program

The five foundational exercises we use for barbell training are the Squat, Deadlift, Press, Bench Press, and Power Clean. Each workout consists of just three of the exercises, designed to work the body’s most muscle mass at once.

Squat

A compound exercise involving the bar resting parallel to the ground on your shoulders while squatting down to a set point, then rising from the squat position. The parallel back squat trains the erector spinae muscle groups, the gluteal region, the hamstrings, and the quadriceps.

Deadlift

The deadlift involves lifting the loaded bar off the ground, rising to a standing position with the bar at hip level, then lowering it to the ground. It targets the largest group of muscles, including the gluteus maximus, all major muscles in your legs, your lower back, your neck, and both your rectus abdominus and your obliques.

Bench Press

The bench press is a compound exercise training the pectoral muscles as the primary mover but uses the triceps and deltoids as secondary muscles. The exercise as we teach it merely utilizes the bar, a flat bench, and barbell weights: no expensive gym equipment and no complicated machines.

Overhead Press

The overhead press is a movement using the bar to provide resistance above the head. By lifting the bar from the floor to an overhead position, every muscle group from the floor to the bar is engaged, including the pectorals, deltoids, triceps, and trapezius, while also utilizing the core and the abdominals to stabilize your spine.

Power Clean

The power clean is an explosive series of movements wherein you lift, flip, and hold the barbell before returning it to the floor in one smooth motion. The power clean is essential in strengthening the gluteus muscles and lower back, as well as the quadriceps, adductors, hamstrings, trapezius muscles, and the forearm flexors.

Why trust your fitness and training to “personal trainers” who will cheat your body with fads? Start with a highly-trained, experienced coach using positive coaching cues and growth-mindset techniques to maximize your workouts with a proven program to work your body efficiently and effectively.

Why take the risk?

Why waste your time?

Testimonial

As someone who practiced fitness routinely my entire life, the results change that I experienced from strength training by Kenneth Rippetoe changed both my body and my perception. I had been using 3 pound and 5-pound weights or standing at the barre in the barre class frustrated with the effort with no result.

Not thinking that barbell training was ever for me, I didn’t realize the power of physical acuity that happens from working weights. It opened an entirely new world for me, and I am grateful, more capable in all areas of my life, and stronger.
